    By Ma Danning ()    16:38, September 13, 2016

At 48 meters high and weighing in at 660 tons, the colossal gilded bronze Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, or Pu Xian Bodhisattva, is an iconic structure on Mount Emei in Sichuan province. There is a temple located within the statue, enabling tourists to venture inside and purify their souls in the sacred Buddhist environment. Situated at the peak of Mount Emei at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, the site is actually the highest Buddhist statue anywhere in the world. As one of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China, Mount Emei boasts 76 Buddhist monasteries, dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties, most of which are located near the mountain top.
