Organized by Baitu Temple in Xuchang, central China's Henan province, nearly two hundred Buddhists participated in a pilgrimage to Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng, Henan province from Oct. 20 to Oct. 25.

The pilgrims set out on their journey on Oct. 20 from Baitu Temple, walked about 60 kilometers each day and arrived at Shaolin Temple after five days of walking on Oct. 25. At the foot of Song Mountain, the Buddhists made a "three-step-one-bow" (bowing after every three steps) pilgrimage up to Shaolin Temple. Along the way, many believers and tourists expressed their amazement and admiration.

The initiator of the activity, Buddhist master Shi Yanji said that the pilgrimage is a journey to pursue inner harmony and purity. The activity has been held for two years in a row.

Many participating Buddhists said that walk is the simplest way to experience life and joy. The activity is intended to spread positive energy and promote a healthy lifestyle.
