They are the first Chinese pair skaters to win a medal at the Winter Olympic Games. They won the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in any figure skating category.
Female Chinese pair skater Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo, her husband and pair skater, won their first World Championship at the 2002 World Figure Skating Championships held in Nagano, Japan, becoming the first Chinese pair skaters to win a gold medal in the history of figure skating.
They got married in 2007.
The couple both retired in February 2016.
