Veteran male badminton player Lindan won gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. Having won all nine major titles in the badminton world, including the Olympic Games, he is the first and only player to achieve this feat. He will compete in the Rio Olympics this year.

Xie Xingfang, female badminton player, is a two-time world champion in women's singles. She won the IBF World Championships in Madrid in 2005 and 2006 respectively. In 2008, she scored a silver medal in the Beijing Olympics. In 2009, she retired from her badminton career.

They got married in 2012.
