A group of alleged criminals stand on trial for processing and vending contaminated pork in Gaoyao District in south China's Guangdong Province, as reported by China News Service on Wednesday.

Guangdong Police cracked down on this group of illegal vendors after over two months of investigations near the end of 2014. They arrested 23 suspects and discovered a total of 25.4 tons of contaminated pork.

The group bought corpses of dead pigs at extremely low prices, packaged them into pork, and sold it to shops in nearby cities, as explained by the police.

Suspects are put on trial recently, charged with producing and selling food below safety standards. Their respective sentences will be announced shortly.
