Ling Zhangquan saluted to the supply ship "Weishanhu" for the last time in a navy port in Sanya, south China's island province Hainan on July 21, 2015. As "Weishanhu" returned to the home port, Ling’s military career finished officially.

Ling, from Yibin of southwest China's Sichuan province, is a staff sergeant. He attended Chinese Navy's first escort missions in the Gulf of Aden and waters off Somalia in 2008. He has been in service for 17 years and taken part in seven escort missions.
