93-year-old Russian veteran Mark Pavlovich Ivanikhin was born in Harbin, China and went back to the Soviet Union to live later. As a soldier during those war-ridden years, he had fought in the Battle of Moscow, the Battle of Kursk, and the Battle of Berlin etc. Ivanikhin has witnessed the cruelty of war and knows the hard-won peace the best. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Anti-Fascism War, Ivanikhin always participates in celebration activities as the leader of a veteran association. He says grand celebrations of the war serve to remind people to avoid new wars.
