BEIJING, July 1 -- China's top legislature on Wednesday disqualified the former chairman of Chinese carmaker FAW Group as a deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) as he is investigated for graft.

Xu Jianyi, who also had been chief of the group's Communist Party of China committee, is probed for "alleged serious violation of discipline and law" since March.

Gao Baoyu, former chairman of the corporation that manages Yingkou Port in Liaoning Province, was disqualified as an NPC deputy for similar reasons, according to a statement released after the bimonthly session of the NPC Standing Committee concluded.

Another NPC deputy, Song Zuowen, a village head in Longkou City in Shandong Province, resigned for personal reasons, the statement added.
