Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty (206B.C.-A.D.220) is one of the politicians who have the longest reign, most achievements and left precious and cultural heritage in Chinese feudal society and history. The well-known Silk Road was developed during his reign.

The emperor has been quietly sleeping in Maoling Mausoleum along the Silk Road. Maoling Mausoleum is located about 40 kilometers away from Xian City. Around Maoling Mausoleum, more than 20 tombs still accompany Emperor Wu, including the tomb of his concubines surnamed Li, Wei Qing and Huo Qubing.

This mausoleum is called ‘the Chinese Pyramid' since it is not only the largest but it also held the richest burial contents of all the mausoleums of Emperors constructed during the Western Han Dynasty. The construction of the mausoleum took the longest time - 53 years.
