Speaking of the Maritime Silk Road, Abeysekera says it is a brilliant proposal to help countries along the Maritime Silk Road, to promote trades, to enhance the marine environmental protection, and to build trusted relationships and better cooperation with those countries. At the same time, all the countries along the Silk Road can have a better understanding of China.

In the interview, Abeysekera also mentions some deficiencies in the communication between China and Sri Lanka. "With a closer relationship in trades between the two countries, communication in culture still needs to be enhanced. What's more, the media in Sri Lanka and China also should strengthen cooperation and understanding to introduce a genuine homeland to each other."
