US first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia look at the Terracotta Warriors in China's central Shaanxi province of Xian.

Situated in Xi'an City, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum is a large archaeological site museum built on top of the Terracotta Army Museum and the Emperor Qinshihuang Mausoleum Site Park. The scenic spot contains the Terracotta Army Museum and the Emperor Qinshihuang Mausoleum -- Lishan Park.

The scenic spot is significant in terms of history, science, and art. In 1961, the Emperor Qinshihuang Mausoleum was among the first group of Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level designated by the State Council. In 1987, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) included the Emperor Qinshihuang Mausoleum (including the Terracotta Army pits) on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites.
