    "Hubei Day" kicks off at horticultural expo

    WUHAN, July 4 (Xinhua) -- "Hubei Day," showcasing the culture and ecology of central China''s Hubei Province, kicked off on Thursday at the ongoing International Horticultural Exhibition in Beijing.

    The event, with dances and music performances that present the culture of the Chu Kingdom in the Warring States Period (475-221 BC) and ethnic Tujia culture, will last for three days.

    The Hubei Garden, with designs mimicking the Three Gorges at the entrance, looks like a dancing phoenix from above.

    Intangible cultural heritage including moxibustion therapy, bamboo weaving, woodcarving, Chu-style lacquer, embroidery and papercutting will be displayed at the three-day event.

    The Beijing horticultural expo, themed "Live Green, Live Better," is the world''s largest expo of its kind and opened to the public on April 29 in Yanqing District. It will last until Oct. 7.
