The Dream of World Peace is a collection of rice sculptures of G20 leaders crafted by artist Wu Xiaoli, an inheritor of China’s intangible cultural heritage, to celebrate the upcoming Hangzhou G20 Summit.

Rice sculpture art is made mainly from glutinous rice flour with wheat flour, water, and paint added to it. A craft artist uses scissors, knives, hair clasps, and patterns to create rice art. The craft is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

G20 leaders hold peonies in their left hands and stand next to their national flowers as a symbol of friendship and to express innovation. The pigeon on their shoulders and the world map under their feet express world peace. The symbolism reflects inclusion and togetherness because all countries share common interests and the same destiny and we must work together for the prosperity of the world economy. The theme of the G20 Hangzhou Summit is expressed through this craftsmanship.
