Young people try to revive traditional Kashgar pottery-making

A recent live stream of a traditional pottery-making session in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region received some 15,000 views within two hours. Pottery-making is a tradition in Kashgar stretching back hundreds of years. Daily utensils in the region are often made of clay. Suchs tradition, however, are growing increasingly antiquated in the eyes of younger generations, many of who prefer modern techniques over centuries-old skills. The live stream aimed to rekindle younger people's interest in the traditional art form. (Photo/Courtesy of Najibullajan)
