Patience is key for any good carpenter. Even a wooden spoon can take up to six hours to make. Living in such a fast-paced era, woodworking can help people to slow down and find inner peace. Jia helps many white-collar workers, teachers and students do just that by making wooden crafts.

“During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Chinese wood craftsmanship was extremely popular and accomplished. But now I see most expertly designed furniture made by other countries. We should not abandon our good tradition,” said Jia. With thousands of people attending Jia’s workshops, he hopes he can carry the craft to more people, and, by doing so, bring them happiness.
