    Reading Education Assistance Dog program launched in Slovenia (4)

    SLOVENIA-LJUBLJANA-WORLD BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY

    LJUBLJANA, April 22, 2016 -- Brina aged 7 reads with the help of a Reading Education Assistance dog, a Japanese spitz named Diva, and its handler Slavica Mrkun of dog therapy society Tacke Pomagacke in the Siska library in Ljubljana, Slovenia, April 19, 2016. Reading Education Assistance Dog (READ) program is a special form of dog therapy programs. In Slovenia, the dog therapy society Tacke Pomagacke started the program five years ago. Now the children's reading sessions with dogs are held each week throughout the year all over Slovenia. Therapy dogs are specially trained and certified for the READ program as well as their handlers. (Xinhua/Luka Dakskobler)
