    People rush to dig treasures after ancient canal drained for cleaning in C China

    A section of the China's ancient Grand Canal has been drained for cleaning in Hua county, Henan province lately. After news spread out that relics such as copper unicorns and gold ingots have been dug out from the river bed, local villagers spared no time to try their luck.

    The Grand Canal (also known as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal), is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the longest canal or artificial waterway in the world. The oldest parts of the canal date back to the 5th century BC.
