Ninth planet likely to be proven, study says

A group of four scientists from France said that they have narrowed down the search area for a ninth planet in the solar system, according to a report on China Youth Daily.

In an article published in January, astronaut Agnes Fienga and her colleagues said that they have found evidence for a planet 10 times more massive than Earth that is orbiting the sun 20 times farther away than distant Neptune, all the way beyond the Kuiper belt, a loop of icy, rocky bodies that includes Pluto. The scientists came to that conclusion based on mathematical and computer modeling work.

A French scientist, Urbain Le Verrier, proved that the eighth planet existed over 160 years ago and confirmed its position. Before this, even Galileo incorrectly regarded the planet as a star. The discovery of Neptune came after the mathematical prediction by Verrier.
