Yang Kaisheng, a 72-year-old wood carving artist, started his work in front of an old house in Dali Dong Nationality Village, Rongjiang county, southwest China's Guizhou province on Jan. 14, 2016. Yang has been doing this job for 50 years. He retired from a village school in 2011. He had been a teacher there for 21 years. Dali Dong Nationality Village was listed in the first batch of Chinese Traditional Villages in 2012. The village’s architecture and tradition attract large number of tourists. Yang shows his wood carving skills to visitors in front of his house every day after retirement and sells his works to visitors. Yang worries that the skill might be lost.
