This is what you saw: This has been confirmed as a test of a Trident SLBM from a US NAVY submarine off Point Magu, near Vandenberg AFB. Pictured is a Trident II (D-5) missile underwater launch.(Photo/Mail Online)

Cmdr. Ryan Perry, of the Navy’s Third Fleet, said the Trident II (D5) was launched as scheduled by an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine in the Pacific Test Range, reported the Union-Tribune.

Cmdr. Ryan Perry said the launches are conducted on a frequent basis to ensure the continued reliability of the system and that information about such test launches is classified prior to the launch.

The lack of information about the streak of light led to a flurry of calls to law enforcement agencies and lit up social media as people posted video of the celestial sight.

Prior to the announcement from the U.S. Navy, Khloe Kardashian and thousands of West Coast residents took to twitter to share photos and videos as well as their insight on the bizarre light.
