A black open-roof limousine carrying Chinese President Xi Jinping drove along Chang'an Avenue in central Beijing amid the army song of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
This marked the start of his inspection of the armed forces which gathered to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II.
