Jackie Chan sparked controversy after he donated historic Chinese sandalwood houses in the traditional Hui-style to Singapore University of Technology and Design in 2013. The star later decided to donate another Hui-styled piece of architecture to Changting, which has a history of 1279 years and is known for its cultural relics. Hui is a major Chinese architectural style from ancient times, with exquisite houses, ancestral halls and memorial archways as its most impressive embodiments. Hui is short for Huizhou, which is a region rich in history in southeastern China that now consists of the southernmost part of Anhui province and Wuyuan County in Jiangxi province.
