The Second World War was the most devastating war in the history of humanity. It plunged more than 80 countries and regions with a total population of about 2 billion into unprecedented calamity. In Asia’s major theater of war, the war casualties of China alone amounted to 35 million. After the war, the international community became fixed on the question of how to avoid another world war. How have Germany and Japan, which were responsible for starting the war, shouldered their responsibilities and learned lessons in the 70 years since peace was declared?

Ahead of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, People.cn publishes this 90-minute, four-part documentary - Truth and Denial: Germany and Japan's Postwar Redemption - describing the different attitudes of Germany and Japan toward their redemption in regard to World War II.
