Ma Yi, 29, was born and grew up in Beijing. She started to sell hand-made hairpins in South Luogu Lane of Beijing six years ago.

Part of the money she earns from selling hairpins is given to the disabled who are involved in making the hairpins; another part is donated to the orphanage and school for deaf-mutes and the rest is used for buying raw materials.
