New Zealand needs to deliver against China, says coach

WINNIPEG, June 14 -- New Zealand head coach Tony Readings said on Sunday that his side needs to improve and score at least one goal when they play against China to qualify for the final 16 of the Women's World Cup.

New Zealand seemed to underperform in their fist two group games where they drew with Canada 0-0 after losing to the Netherlands 1-0.

"Definitely we should have scored in the first two games, I think If you look across our group in particular, the teams are closely matched. So there will not be abundance of chances," Readings said.

"We definitely need to improve tomorrow, to score at least one goal to qualify for the next round," he said.

He reckoned that China, who needs a win to make sure a spot in the final 16, will be as committed as his side.

"It's definitely going to be a game that both teams are going to be fully committed to get a result they need in the last game of the group. The two teams were pretty close in the past in terms of performance and results," he said.
