Born in 1990, Yang Qifan is a graduate student majoring in electrical engineering in Lanzhou University of Technology in northwest China’s Gansu province. With relentless effort, Yang invented a "variable-speed engineer operation unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system" with his team in 2011 and successfully applied nation patent for his invention.

Now, 25-year-old Yang and two of his friends have registered an aeronautical engineering company in the hi-tech industrial district of Lanzhou. The company has flown 12 UAVs of four different kinds in test flights. In the first six months of the company, their UAVs have provided special shooting, land survey, plant protection, aerial photo and other services for clients. In a word, Yang has started his own business.
