    West Lake: A paradise on earth

    The lake was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 2011, described as 'has influenced garden design in the rest of China as well as Japan and Korea over the centuries'.

    Photo taken on Nov. 5, 2013 shows the Baochu Pagoda behind a streetlight at the West Lake in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province. Comprising temples, pagodas, pavilions, gardens, causeways and islands, the West Lake is famous for its picturesque scenery as well as the historic relics. The lake was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 2011, described as "has influenced garden design in the rest of China as well as Japan and Korea over the centuries".
