    Have fun in Hong Kong during Spring Festival

    A Hong Kong tradition exhibition, themed on "Reunion-Hong Kong", is being held at the Oriental Plaza in Beijing. The Spring Festival of the Year of the Sheep is around the corner. With its mild climate and blend of western and eastern culture, Hong Kong attracts tourists from all over the world to experience the Chinese New Year atmosphere.

    According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, tourists can experience traditional customs while enjoying international culture.

    Sweeping the home

    Hong Kong residents sweep their homes on Dec. 8 of the lunar calendar with the aim of driving away bad luck and leaving space for good fortune.

    Buying new pants

    Hong Kong people buy new pants for Chinese New Year. In cantonese, the word pants sounds like "Fu" in Mandarin, meaning getting rich.

    Family dinnerVisitors spending Chinese New Year in Hong Kong can taste traditional Hong Kong dishes including poon choi and rice cake, as well as some innovative dishes. Poon Choi includes ingredients such as pork, beef, lamb, chicken, duck, abalone, ginseng, shark fin, fish maw, prawn, crab, dried mushroom, fish balls, squid, dried eel, dried shrimp, pigskin, bean curd and Chinese radish.

    Hong Kong residents hand out red envelopes containing money for the sake of good luck and good fortune.

    Go to a temple to pray

    Hong Kong residents go to Wong Tai Sin Temple, a well known shrine in Hong Kong, with their family on the first day of the Chinese lunar year. Some even wait to offer the first incense on the night of New Year's eve.
