Glorious canopies, gods and shrines are all made of gold. It is known that 242.2 kilograms of gold was used to build this temple. (People's Daily Online/Yang Mu, Yang Shuo)

Thailand is regarded as a country of thousand Buddha. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a Theravada Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand, started its construction in 1300s. It is said that a white elephant chose the site for the temple and a royal family undertook the construction work. The temple got the name of "Double Dragon" because two golden dragons guarded the temple along the mountain road.
