With a history of more than 600 years, Anshun Dixi, also known as Tiaoshen (dancing to the god), is popular in Anshun, southwest China's Guizhou province. It first got popular among soldiers from Anhui and Jiangsu during the administration of Hongwu Emperor. Famous for its quaint and rough characteristics, Dixi is regarded as "living fossil of Chinese drama". It has been listed in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage protection list by the State Council in 2006.
