    Xinjiang's first high-speed railway goes on trial run

    A high-speed train gets ready for its trial run on rails linking the northwest Chinese provincial capital cities of Lanzhou, in Gansu province, and Urumqi, in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, on Jun 3, 2014. The 1,776km-long railway is expected to begin operations at the end of the year. This will also be the first high-speed railway in Xinjiang. [Photo: Chinanews.com]
