BEIJING, May 21  -- Chinese hurdler Xie Wenjun claimed his second IAAF event title in less than a week when he clocked a fastest time of 13.31 seconds in the men's 110m hurdles at the 2014 IAAF World Challenge Beijing meet here on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old Xie won his first Diamond League race in Shanghai last Sunday, in personal best time _ 13.28.

"Today's result is not as good as I expected. As you all know, I just finished the race in Shanghai and came here in a hurry, I think, the fatigue affected me," said Xie.

With Olympic champion Liu Xiang still battling to recover from his foot injury, Xie is widely considered the next hope of Chinese athletics.

"I hope to keep improving my skills so that I can compete with the top athletes in the bigger stage," added Xie, who reached the semi-finals of the 110m hurdles in the London Olympic Games in 2012.

Ryan Wilson from the United State took the silver in 13.37 and his compatriots Kevin Craddock won the bronze in 13.56. Defending champion David Oliver withdrew because of illness.
