Three of China's major cargo airlines are in merger talks, hoping to form Asia's largest cargo airline company, Zhou Laizhen, deputy director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, said in Beijing on Wednesday.

The three airlines are Beijing-based Air China Cargo, China Cargo Airlines in Shanghai, and China Southern Cargo Airlines in Guangzhou.

Zhou said the airlines are pushing ahead with the merger plan.
