Touching the Greater Bay Area: American college student won over by China's 15th National Games mascots

By Wu Yuyangyang (People's Daily Online) 10:06, October 31, 2025

American college student Alexandria Deacon, visiting China's Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area for the first time, was immediately drawn to the mascots of China's 15th National Games.

As the opening of the 15th National Games draws near, Deacon arrived in Guangzhou, the capital of south China's Guangdong Province and the host city of the opening ceremony. As she explored, the mascots displayed throughout the city sparked her curiosity.

Later, Deacon and her new Chinese friend Xiaoya bought mascot blind boxes together, and in the process, she was able to learn a bit about Chinese culture. Beyond the mascots, the vibrant sports atmosphere filling the city made Deacon even more excited.
