China's Feng/Huang claim mixed doubles title at badminton French Open
BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- China's Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping won the mixed doubles title at the badminton French Open on Sunday.
The Chinese pair, nicknamed the "Phoenix" combination from their surnames, beat Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran 27-25, 21-12 to claim their seventh title of the season.
"Over the past few weeks, we've been continuously identifying and solving problems together during competitions," said Huang. "Even when being extremely tired, we kept reminding each other to maintain the desire and determination to win."
In the women's singles final, world No. 1 An Se-young of South Korea defeated China's Wang Zhiyi 21-13, 21-7 to secure her ninth title of the season.
"My opponent really performed better today, and I was physically exhausted," Wang said. "I need some rest and recovery."
China's Li Yijing and Luo Xumin missed out on the women's doubles title after losing to Japan's Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto 21-17, 18-21, 15-21.
Denmark's Anders Antonsen won the men's singles title with a 21-12, 21-19 victory over home favorite Christo Popov.
The men's doubles title went to South Korea's Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae, who came from behind to beat Indonesia's Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri 10-21, 21-13, 21-12.
