The South Africa-China Center was officially launched at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs' Alliance (YEA) Global Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa on Sept. 19, 2025.
With the joint support of Jia Wei, chairperson of the G20 YEA China Council, and Thandi Moraka, deputy minister of foreign affairs of South Africa, this significant moment marked the beginning of a new stage in the institutionalization and in-depth development of cooperation between young entrepreneurs from China and South Africa.

The launch of the South Africa-China Center emerged as a highlight of the summit. Established through an exclusive strategic partnership agreement between the G20 YEA China Council and Young Entrepreneurs South Africa (YESA), the center will leverage the international platform advantages of the G20 YEA. It will focus on economic and trade investment, green development, and technological innovation, providing comprehensive support to enterprises from both nations through project matchmaking, market expansion, and financial empowerment.

Serving as a "new bridge" and "new engine" for advancing practical China-South Africa and China-Africa cooperation, the center will deepen industrial and supply chain collaboration through resource integration and model innovation, enabling enterprises from both countries to share development opportunities.
The center's first major cooperation project was also simultaneously launched at the ceremony. Energy China-CATL Technology Co., Ltd. and Borena Energy, South Africa’s leading energy company, signed a strategic partnership agreement for a 150MW/600MWh standalone energy storage project, which aims to provide strong support for South Africa’s energy infrastructure transformation and power supply security.

Building on its inaugural energy storage project, the center will continue to deepen dual-track cooperation in economic, trade, and cultural sectors, integrate its resource advantages, and expand the dimensions of cooperation. This endeavor will write a new chapter for China-South Africa cooperation and the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.
