Global Governance Initiative showcases China's vision for human progress, international harmony: Pakistani official

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Global Governance Initiative proposed by China, which aims to promote a fairer global governance system, showcases China's vision for human progress and international harmony, said Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Yousuf Raza Gilani.

The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan held a reception in Islamabad on Monday to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Gilani said in his speech that with China's remarkable journey as inspiration, and with unshakeable Pakistan-China friendship as foundation, there is no doubt that the two countries together will write new chapters of hope, progress, and prosperity for their peoples and for the wider region.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) represents a proud chapter of the iron-clad friendship between the two countries. CPEC is not just about roads, energy projects or ports. It is about shared dreams and prosperity for the two peoples, Gilani said.

Gwadar Port, once a quiet fishing harbor, is now a symbol of that transformation. It is a gateway for trade, a catalyst for regional economic activity and a living demonstration of what sustained cooperation can achieve, he added.
