VIENTIANE, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The first Laos-China Electric Power Technology Forum was held on Thursday at the Naxaythong Substation in the Lao capital Vientiane, with the aim of deepening bilateral cooperation in the electricity sector and supporting Laos' strategic energy transformation.

Under the theme "Sharing Technology, Cultivating Talent, and Benefiting the People," the forum drew on China's extensive experience to promote the adoption of technologies and standards including ultra-high voltage transmission and smart distribution networks.

To support talent development, the forum introduced standardized training courses in grid planning, dispatching, and operation and maintenance, while expanding programs to train technical specialists in Laos.

In terms of public benefit, the forum focused on improving the reliability of power supply in Vientiane and along the China-Laos Railway, reducing distribution network losses, and exploring mechanisms for coordinated emergency power response, further strengthening China-Laos friendship through joint public welfare initiatives.

According to the Electricite du Laos Transmission Company Limited, by drawing on the expertise and experience of China Southern Power Grid, the upgrade of Laos' main power grid has achieved remarkable results.

The forum brought together key representatives from the Lao government and business community, as well as experts from Chinese power research institutions and technical service providers. Chinese delegates showcased advanced technologies in areas such as intelligent inspection, online monitoring, and satellite communications, offering strong technical and service support for deepening regional energy integration.
