2 paramilitary troopers wounded in IED blast in India's Chhattisgarh
NEW DELHI, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two paramilitary troopers belonging to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were wounded when a pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED), believed to be planted by Naxals, went off Thursday in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.
The explosion took place on the Palli-Barsur road area of Dantewada district, about 450 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.
According to police, both the wounded personnel were immediately sent to a hospital in Dantewada and from there they would be airlifted to Raipur for advanced medical care.
Authorities have rushed reinforcements to the area and launched search operations to trace the Naxals behind the attack.
Currently, Naxals are active across the central and eastern parts of India.
New Delhi has deployed several companies of its paramilitary forces to take on Naxals in their strongholds.
