BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhua) -- About 67 percent of Chinese adults from urban and rural areas call for reading festivals or other public reading activities, according to a national reading report released Tuesday.

Chinese adults read 4.67 print books and 3.32 e-books per capita last year, said the survey by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication.

Over 40 percent of Chinese adults believe they only read a few books annually, and 14.6 percent of the adult respondents were not satisfied with their reading, while 26.3 percent were satisfied.

The survey, conducted from August to December 2018, had a sample size of 19,683 people from 29 provincial-level regions.
