Heartwarming photos show girl posing for wedding photos with widowed mother

A girl posing with her widowed mother for wedding photos she never had has melted hearts across the country, a local newspaper in central China’s Hubei province reported on Oct. 26.

In the pictures, the 63-year-old mother, an illiterate street cleaner, wore a white wedding dress and broke down in tears when her daughter handed her a bouquet of flowers.

"Every woman wants the chance to wear a beautiful wedding dress. My mother never had the chance, so I decided to make it happen for her,” said the 28-year-old daughter with the pseudonym Ma Er, from Shiyan in central China’s Hubei province.

On Sept. 20, Ma Er took her mother to a photography studio to take wedding pictures. It was a surprise for her mother, who wept with joy upon receiving a bouquet of flowers during the photo shoot.

Ma Er said her father died 21 years ago and was never able to provide her mother with a wedding picture.

“My mother worked very hard to raise my brother and I,” said the woman, adding that now she is grown up she can help her mother more.

Ma Er, who used to work far away from her hometown, was previously only able to see her mom once a year. Last year, she moved her business back to Shiyan in order to have more time with her mother, who is now in her mid-sixties.

“Besides cleaning the streets, my mother has a part-time job in a factory, which we don’t think she should do because of her age, but we can’t stop her,” she said.

“We think she wants to make it up to us on behalf of our father,” Ma Er added.

The wedding pictures have touched the hearts of netizens; many writing “These are the most beautiful wedding photos I’ve ever seen". Others sent their best wishes to the mother and daughter.
