Baiqi Canal's HIS status application enters countdown stage

Xiangyang's Baiqi Canal HIS status application delegation will head to Canada on August 12 for the international review of HIS 2018.

The review results will be unveiled on August 14 BJT.

Apart from Baiqi Canal, another three Chinese irrigation projects, namely Sichuan's Dujiang Weir, Guangxi's Ling Canal and Zhejiang's Jiangxi Weir were shortlisted for the international review.

Baiqi Canal, also named Chang Canal or Jinchen Canal, was built in 279 BC. In the Warring States Period, the troops led by Qin general Bai Qi stormed Yan City of Chu State (Imperial City of Chu State, currently Zhengji Town, Yicheng City). To divert water to flood Yan City, the troops dug the canal in Wu'an Town, Manhe.
