Ice cubes, water melons used to prevent sunstroke in animals

A variety of measures to prevent sunstroke have recently been taken for the animals at Yancheng Safari Park of Changzhou City, eastern China’s Jiangsu province. Water melons are the main food for the animals at the zoo to relieve heat, and the park goes through about 150 kilograms of watermelons every day.

In addition to boiled green beans offered to kangaroos and giraffes, the park has also prepared traditional Chinese medicine to prevent sunstroke in the animals. More than 30 ice cubes have been distributed to the zoo’s main facilities, such as the panda house, giraffe house, and alpaca house, to help the animals cool down in the summer heat.
