By Li Yan (People's Daily Online)    14:52, December 27, 2016

The cervus elaphus ebinur, a newly discovered species of deer, was captured on film in the Ebinur Lake National Nature Reserve on Dec. 26, in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. Ebi Lake is a rift lake as well as the largest saltwater lake in Xinjiang. The body of water has an elevation of 189 meters and an average depth of 1.4 meters. The nature reserve contains numerous wetlands, which account for 45.5 percent of its total area. The wetlands are essential for the preservation of biodiversity in the region.
