Trained dogs put into service in Hebei Customs

Two trained dogs went to work at Shijiazhuang Airport on Dec. 23. With the help of the dogs, the detection of animal products and fresh produce will be greatly improved.

As a new tool for quarantine and inspection, the dogs play a critical role in preventing the entry of hazardous organisms. China has been conducting a pilot project using detector dogs since 2001; 296 canines have been dispatched to airports in Beijing, Jilin, Shandong and other provinces under the direction of the Ministry of Finance.
