Recently, National Development and Reform Commission, as approved by the State Council, issued the Medium and Long Term Railway Network Plan. Xiangyang-Jingmen-Yichang High-speed Railway, Wuhan-Tianmen-Jingmen High-speed Railway and Jingmen-Jingzhou High-speed Railway are included in the Plan and will be completed within 5 years.

Hohhot-Nanning High-speed Railway is one of major high-speed railways, connecting North China, Central Plains, Central China, and South China, and running through Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Yulin Economic Zone, central parts of Shanxi Province, Central Plains, middle reach of Yangtze River, and Beibu Gulf. Xiangyang-Jingmen-Yichang High-speed Railway, as a part of Hohhot-Nanning High-speed Railway, will help Xiangyang build the main artery of external communications after it is completed and put into operation, thereby fully increasing its openness.
