In the middle of June, Xu Dayong, a famous pen-maker of Xiangyang, succeeded in reproducing writing brushes of the Jin and Tang Dynasties with an ancient method.

These writing brushes are reproduced by Xu Dayong with the paper-wrapping method that has been prevalent during the Jin and Tang Dynasties. The writing brush refill is made of highest-grade hare hair and weasels hair, and the writing brush coat is made of superior fine sheep wool. The length of writing brush nib of the Jin Dynasty is 1.1 cun, and that of the Tang Dynasty is 1.2 cun, with a shape of “circular cone”. The writing brush holder is made of mottled bamboo. The completion of writing brushes of the Tang Dynasty requires more than 70 procedures, while that of the Jin Dynasty more than 200 procedures.
