On June 7, Wei Xing, secretary of the Pu'er Municipal Party Committee, met with Zhu Youyong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, in Pu'er City, presenting a letter appointing him as an economic advisor to the Pu'er Municipal People's Government.

Zhu Youyong, honorary president and chief professor of Yunnan Agricultural University and chairman of the Yunnan Association for Science & Technology, created the "Theory and Technology of Controlling Rice Blast through Rice Genetic Diversity" and the "Theory of Controlling Crop Diseases through Biodiversity". These theories and technologies have been demonstrated and popularized in over 100 million mu of rice at home and abroad, and produced remarkable economic, social and ecological benefits.
