‘When you are on the mountain, any fear you may have expected just escapes you. But the first moment was pretty scary, due to the height, but we soon felt at home because we love dangerous stuff.

'I can honestly say it was the greatest feeling I've ever experienced in my entire life. There are rumours that as many as 100 people die on the trail every year, after they fall off the path.

‘But I think they've done a lot in recent years to increase safety, although no one forces you to wear safety gear, it's strongly advised.

‘The plank walk is the most dangerous part of the trail and if that wasn't enough, the path is two-way traffic the entire way meaning the extremely narrow path is limited even more.’
