Chinese state-run power giant State Grid has won bids to set up a pair of new transmission lines in Brazil.

Brazil's electricity regulator says the deals are worth over 110-million US dollars.

The two lines are being built in western Brazil.

State Grid is among the over 10 global companies who have won the rights to build 14 separate transmission lines which stretch over 34-hundred kilometers in certain parts of Brazil.

Brazil has been struggling through a massive recession, meaning a lot of the work to maintain its infrastructure is being out-sourced to save money.

Establishing power lines in Brazil can be a daunting task, as the country is still home to massive swaths of rainforest jungle.
